Killeeshil club notes

June 24, 2015

Alphalot for Monday 22nd was F H L O P. Sellers prize = Cormac McElvogue. Match 4 winner was Oonagh McGilly. Congratulations to all our winners & thanks everyone for your continued support of this vital fundraiser. Next week's jackpot = £5700.

Training continues for U8/U10 & U12 girls on Monday evenings from 6-7pm and for U8/U10 & U12 boys on Thursday evenings from 7-8pm.

The U8 lads put on a powerhouse display of football on Saturday morning past when they travelled in huge numbers to Beragh where they withstood the challenges of the hosts, Fintona and Drumragh.  Glorious sunshine enabled these future stars to strut their prowess in front of the spectators who were in awe at the football they were witnessing. Thanks to Cathal and Colm for looking after this well drilled team on Saturday and thanks to Beragh for the way they looked after everybody at the Blitz.

Our U12 lads had an away game against Moy on Monday evening. Killeeshil turned in another great performance , with 21 players out, we played two 9 aside games winning both very comfortably, both teams playing great attacking football. Next up is the Moy tournament on Sat 27th, where we would like to see plenty of support. After that we have a home game on Wed 1st v Clonoe in Rd 5 of the Go Games.

On Wednesday 24th our U12 girls play Galbally in Galbally at 7pm. All girls to meet at the pitch for 6.15pm. Please go along and cheer our young hoops on to victory!

Sunday 21st was another night to remember for our all conquering U14 girls when they completed the Tyrone Treble by lifting the League Title, in Galbally defeating Carrickmore on a scorelone 5-8 to 2-6. A super team performance and mighty congratulations to the girls and the management. This weekend this talented team travel to Wicklow and Wexford, to try and conquer the whole of Ireland when they compete in the All-Ireland Feile Competition. Best of luck to all the players and the management team from everyone in the club. We hope you take another trophy home & wish everyone attending The Feile a safe & successful journey.

Training for U16 lads continues on Thursday evening from 6.15>7.30pm ahead of their league campaign starting on Monday 29th with an away fixture v Moortown. All support much appreciated.

On Sunday 21st, we travelled to Gortin for senior and reserve league fixtures.  A much improved performance by our reserves saw us race into an early lead in the 1st game, only for a fitter Gortin side to pull clear in the 2nd half - final score: Killeeshil 1-13 Gortin 1-19.  The senior game was a close, niggly affair where a few mistakes in the first half saw us concede 2 goals and go in at half time 3 pts down but we put in a great team performance in the 2nd half to eventually draw the game - final score Killeeshil 1-10 Gortin 2-7.  Aaron McKenna scored 1-1 while Packie McMullan finished the game with 0-4.  Pascal Donaghy, John McMullan and Ruairi O'Neill were also point scorers. Bernard O'Neill deserves special praise for a great performance! Get well soon to Cathal Skeffington who had to leave the field injured late in the game. Training for senior & reserves continues on Tuesday and Thursday night at 730pm.

A big thank you to everyone who attended the Feile Coffee Morning on Sunday and thanks to all the parents and children who baked and helped to make it a very successful event.

Our thoughts and prayers are with any families in the area who are dealing with illness in their family at this time.

If any young player is having difficulties, we urge them to reach out and find someone to talk to. Our coaches are always willing to listen to any young player. Please be vigilant of your children and friends and look out for each other.
