PATSY MCCALLION U18 LADIES BLITZ
Strabane Sigersons G.A.A. hosted the Patsy McCallion U18 Ladies Blitz last Saturday morning. The morning turned out a great success with four teams participating. The host club Strabane Sigersons, Owen Roes, Urney St. Columba's and Glan na Gael. Each team had three games each with the top two going on to play in the final. The playing conditions where excellent on the day despite the recent bad spell. The competition proved great preparation for the teams as the start of the Minor season gets underway in the near future.
Strabane and Owen Roes qualified for the final with both teams having strong wins over their competitors Urney and Glan na Gael. The final turned out to be very a tight game and although Strabane defeated Owen Roes in the initial rounds in was not to be in the final with Owen Roes being the stronger team in the end defeating the host team 4 - 2.
Following the final, Ladies Chairman Raymond Moss thanked all clubs in attendance, the referees Joe Gallagher, Martin Conway, the linesmen and umpires and all those who in anyway assisted with the organisation of the event. Martin Conway then presented the Patsy McCallion shield to Owen Roes captain and the winning panel with their medals.
A special word of thanks from Minor managers was extended to Sigersons Youth Officer Jason Foley for his organisation of the event and to Ladies Chair Raymond Moss for co-ordinating to all those who lent him any assistance. Also thanks to Aodhan Harkin for securing funding for the medals.
