Tyrone GAA will make history tonight if - as expected - Roisín Jordan is elected County Board chairperson.

Roisín has already served five years as vice-chairperson and the tradition in the O'Neill County is that the vice-chairperson succeeds the chairperson.

With the incumbent Ciarán McLaughlin stepping down after completing his five-year term, the Eglish woman is clear favourite to be elected at tonight's vote.

She faces competition from Killyclogher's Donal Magee and Clogher's Eugene McConnell but all the indications are that Jordan will create history.

Donegal's Noreen Doherty became the first woman to be elected secretary of a County Board in 1992 and there are currently three female secretaries working at national level: Áine Finnegan in Monaghan, Margaret Doyle in Wexford and Kildare's Kathleen O'Neill.
