Martin Penrose is believed to have brought the curtain down on his Tyrone career.

The Belfast Telegraph is reporting that the All-Ireland winning forward has informed Mickey Harte that he is to retire from inter-county football. The livewire forward has enjoyed a glittering career which has yielded All-Ireland minor (2001), U21 (2003 and '04) and senior (2005 and '08) medals. He also won Ulster SFC honours in 2007, '09 and '10.

Penrose transferred from his native Aghyaran to Carrickmore a couple of years ago and played in this year's O'Neill Cup decider, which Carmen lost to Omagh St. Enda's in heart-breaking circumstances.

There has also been speculation surrounding the Tyrone futures of Stephen O'Neill, who turns 34 next week, Joe McMahon, who is preparing for Omagh's Ulster club SFC semi-final against St. Eunan's on Sunday, Dermot Carlin and Conor Gormley.
