Former Tyrone defender John Lynch has called on Mickey Harte to make changes to his management team.

While the 1986 All Star is in favour of Harte seeing out the final year of his current three-year contract, Lynch feels the three-time All-Ireland winning manager will have some tough decisions to make regarding the make-up of his backroom team for 2015.

"Tyrone definitely need to refresh their backroom staff," Lynch says in the Irish News.

"There is no doubt about that. It is evident that it works because Jim McGuinness has done it and (Kieran) McGeeney coming into Armagh has freshened things up as well.

"Unfortunately for Mickey, he has probably struck up a great relationship with those lads. He may need to display a ruthless streak."

The Castlderg man continued: "Mickey has been there a long time. If he is making up his mind to stay, then we have to accept that.

"Mickey has proven that he is a top class manager. He is possibly one of the greatest managers that the Association has ever seen. He is in the top four in my opinion."
