McMahon joins Tyrone's walking wounded

Joe McMahon is the latest Tyrone defender to pick up an injury ahead of Sunday's All-Ireland football qualifier against Armagh.

With Peter Harte ruled out with a broken wrist and PJ Quinn (stomach muscle) and Matty Donnelly (groin) on the doubtful list, McMahon's injury couldn't come at a worse time. The experienced Omagh St. Enda's clubman has been unable to train since suffering a chest injury after coming on as a sub in the win over Louth a fortnight ago.

"Joe got a blow to his chest at the end of that game," Tyrone assistant manager Tony Donnelly explained to the Irish News.

"It was a blow above the ribcage. It has impaired his breathing. It is very tender. It has curtailed what he has been able to do since the Louth game.

"He has been able to do parts of the training, but he has not been in contact training. It's unlikely that Joe will play any role on Sunday."
