Senior men had a weekend off but are back in action this Friday evening with a home fixture against Brackaville. Reserve throw in at 6:30 and Senior at 7:45. Senior championship will soon be upon us but at the time of going to print no date or venue has been confirmed. Please take note, Clubs will only have 125 tickets available for the game and these tickets priced at £6 will have to be applied for. Only fully paid up members will be eligible to purchase tickets for the game, limited due to the Covid protocol, so as tickets numbers are scarce we appreciate that some supporters will be disappointed. For those who will not be attending there is still a chance to view the game as Tyrone GAA TV has promised to stream all championship fixtures online. We’ll pass on all information about this service when we know more.

On Thursday 6th of August our Senior ladies hosted Donaghmore in the last game of the league. Our girls got off to a great start with  early scores from Grainne Rafferty, Zoe Loughran and Bronagh McKenna in the first half of the game and lead at the short whistle 3:09 to 0:05 points. The second half of the game followed the same pattern with the team playing great football from defence through midfield and tagging on more fantastic scores from Chloe Collins, Ciara Donnelly, Alanah Donnelly and Claire Hegarty. It was a great team performance and our ladies came out the winners at the end. Final score 6:15 to 3:08. Congratulations to our Senior ladies who now process into the league semi final.

Ladies Championship is just around the corner with our girls have home advantage against Aodh Ruadh on Thursday 20th August at 7:15.

The U16 boys travelled to the loughshore last Thursday evening to face a previously unbeaten Derrylaughan team. The lads produced their best performance of the season running out winners on a final scoreline of 4-20 to 2-07 to make it 3 wins from 3 games in the league.

Backboned by strong defensive play from fullback Mark Donnelly and wing half back Luke Donnelly the lads built up an 8 point halftime lead on a score of 1-08 to 0-03, the goal coming from a fine individual effort by midfielder Liam Traynor.

The 2nd half was all out attack with driving runs from Michael Carty and Eoin McGlinchey setting up numerous scoring chances expertly taken by forwards Daniel Rafferty, Conor McCool and Eoin Conway. A fine team effort by all involved on the night.

Next game is at home to Gael Naomh Padraig on Wednesday at 7:15. Please get yourself up to the pitch and support this talented team.

It was a case of missed goal opportunities for the u-14 lads this week and despite playing some lovely football they came up short against Moortown.

Moortown got off to a flier and lead 1-2 to no score before the hoops kicked into gear, points from James Canning, Eoin O’Neill and Callum McWilliams brought them back into the game and when Connor Traynor goaled it was 1-6 to 1-6 after 15 minutes.

Killian Bell and Shea Fearon were excellent in defence and kept Moortown quiet for long periods but they did get in for a few goals just before half time to lead at the break 4-8 to 2-7.

The young hoops played their best football of the year in the 3rd quarter as Ronan Bell and the always outstanding captain Caolan McElvogue dominated midfield. Unfortunately they didn’t make this dominance count on the scoreboard as the Moortown goal lived a charmed life. A missed penalty, the crossbar, the post twice and 3 clear one on ones which just went wide all meant that despite being the better team the hoops still trailed 4-10 to 3-9 with 15 minutes to go.

In the final quarter the hoops gave it their all and Padraig McGlinchey and Sean McClarnon were excellent in defence while Sean Russell  and Aaron Muldoon tried to get the scores at the other end. With a few minutes to go the gap was down to 3 but Moortown got in for a few goals which gave a unfair look to the score board. A strange game where despite playing some excellent football and being the better team for long periods the hoops still lost by 8 points

Final Score: Moortown 6-14 Killeeshil 4-12

U8 and 10 lads head to Galbally this Friday at 6:15 with the U12 lads making the same trip on Saturday morning at 11:30.

Minor ladies came up short against Ardboe on Monday night losing out 1:09 to 3:11. Next up for the team is an away fixture to Kildress on Monday 17th at 7pm.
