October 01, 2019

The Seniors Footballers play Killyclogher on Sat 05th Oct, Reserves 3.30pm, Seniors 5pm. Our U16s were beaten by Drumragh Sarsfields in the League Knock-out Quarter-Final on Sun past and play Drumragh again in the Championship Quarter Final on Sat 05th Oct at 11.30am at the Shore. The U12.5 season is finished with only the Gerard Quinn cup to be rescheduled and played. Watch this space also for info on the U13s starting. The U10s were narrowly beaten in the Final of the Ballymaguigan Tournament on Sun 29th Sept past. The lads came out as group winners by winning all their qualifying games and then won a hard fought semi-final only to lose in the last game to the hosts! That brings the U10 year to an end – again further info on end of season skills assessments and potential winter programmes for all age groups will be posted in the related WhatsApp groups. Many thanks to all the trainers, helpers, parents and of course our children for an enjoyable year, go raibh maith agaibh!

The Minor Camogie season is finished with no play-offs to be played. The U16s will meet either Omagh/Naomh Padraig (TBC) in the semi-final game of the Anne Jordon Plate – date/time TBC. Again the Camogie Club would like to thank all managers, volunteers, parents and supporters for their work throughout the camogie year, much appreciated, go raibh maith agaibh!

Club games, the Club Development Draw Introductory Evenings and the Gerard Quinn cup were cancelled at the weekend past following the passing of Mary Cushnahan on 25 Sept. Mary, husband to Honorary President Hughie Cushnahan and mother of playing member Bronagh and ex playing members Kevin, Enda and Damien as well grandmother to current Cushnahan and Carney players was an integral part of the fabric of our club. Over the years Mary helped manage and organise the Lotto, the washing of Jerseys, the making of food and supported the club at our games and many of our functions, events and fundraisers. Sympathies are extended to the Cushnanhan and Campbell families. Sympathies are also extended to the Hughes family Aughamullan following the passing of Tommy. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anam.

To mark the clubs 75th anniversary and 100 years of Kevin Barry’s death there are a number of events being planned throughout the next year. One idea was to have a 10 day club trip in July 2020 to New York and Philadelphia where the club would play an exhibition game against the Kevin Barry’s Philadelphia Club. In order to get the ball rolling with this idea we are seeking an indication of interest for the club trip. If you are interested please contact one of the following people - Gerard McAliskey +447716292712, Phillip McCourt +447894402744 or James Kennedy +447748724420. Once we have an idea of the level of interest we can confirm dates and costs. Go raibh maith agaibh.
