Urney hosted Augher today in the ACL, with the game throwing in at 1pm. A strong breeze played a big part in today's game with both teams making use of it in each half. Urney started brightly thanks to a converted 45 from Johnny Lafferty. Jamie McAleer followed up with a free before a Johnny Lafferty free left Urney 3 up after 10 mins. Augher responded with their first point on 18 mins before Fergal McNulty pointed from play to leave it 4-1 after 19 mins. Augher then scored 2 on the bounce to leave it 4-3 on 26 mins. Urney finished the half brighter with 2 scores from Johnny Lafferty (1 free and 1 from play) and a Fergal McNulty free left the half time score Urney 0-7 Augher 0-3.

 

Stephen Lafferty replaced Jamie McAleer at halftime as a result of an injury picked up in first half and Urney started the 2nd half where they left off in the first firing over 2 quick scores. A Johnny Lafferty free and a Stephen Lafferty point from play left it 9-3 to Urney. Augher responded with 2 scores before another Johnny Lafferty free left it 10-5 to Urney on 35 mins. This was to be Urney's last score for 15 mins. Augher upped the tempo and scored 2 points to leave it 10-7 on 48 mins. A Johnny Lafferty point from play increased the gap to 4 again on 50 mins, but again Augher rallied and scored 5 in a row to lead in injury time 11-12. However Fergal McNulty calmly slotted a point from play in 63rd min to leave it 12 a piece. Both sides spurned chances to win the game but the referee blew the final whistle on 64 mins and both teams shared the points. Final score Urney 0-12 Augher 0-12.

Next up for the Seniors is a home game against Loughmacrory. The game is scheduled for this Saturday at 2.30.

 

The dates and venues for the Intermediate championship have also been released. Urney are to play Cookstown in Pomeroy, throwing in at 5pm on Saturday 31st August.

 

YOUTH (An tAos Óg):

 

Training for Under 16 girls continues this Wednesday at 6.30pm at pitch. All new and returning players are welcome to attend.

 

Underage training continues on Thursday. Training for U6, U8, U10 & U12 will take place at the pitch from 7 to 8. New players always welcome.

 

Youth membership can be paid to Cathal McGowan at youth training on Thursday night. Family - £50, Under 6 - £10, Under 8 to Under 16 - £20. Forms are available and must be filled in.

 

Our under 8's took part in a Go-Games blitz in Newtownstewart on Saturday. An enjoyable mornings football, and a special thanks to Newtownstewart for their hospitality.
