Tyrone 4-13

Derry 1-10

Darragh Canavan called the shots as Tyrone produced a devastating scoring display to overpower holders Derry in this evening's Ulster U20FC final at the Athletic Grounds.

Canavan dictated the game from centre forward as the Red Hands won with surprising ease. Points from Mark McGrogan gave Derry an early lead before the winners replied with scores from Conall Grimes and Sean Og McAleer.

A superb Tiarnan McHugh goal in the 14th minute put the Oak Leafers back in the driving seat, but two points from Canavan and a Tiarnan Quinn '45 soon had the winners level. And they never looked back after a James Garrity penalty in the 25th minute and another goal from McAleer in injury-time after Oran Hartin had saved Joe Oguz's initial shot helped them to a 2-9 to 1-5 interval lead.

The game was ended as a contest within 15 seconds of the restart when midfielder Oguz raised Tyrone's third green flag to ease them into a 10-point lead. Full back Conor Quinn rattled the net for a fourth time five minutes later and there was no respite for Derry thereafter as late points from substitute Michael Conroy added gloss to the scoreline.
