Tyrone's Cathal McShane with Sean Mullooly of Roscommon

Cathal McShane attributed his superb form to hard work and practice after Tyrone opened their Super 8s campaign with a four-point win over Roscommon.

The Owen Roe's clubman scored 0-8 (0-5 from frees) in another man of the match performance on the edge of the square at Hyde Park.

"It's about hard work, practicing after training, hitting shots," he told Off The Ball.

"I know being in full forward you have to be more clinical and ruthless so I'm working on that part of my game. I know last year I was more out the field but you have to be open to playing a lot of different positions, I'm happy in there, it's all about learning and getting better."

McShane continued: “We knew it would be a battle here in Hyde Park but we are happy to get the two points and go from there.

“We knew we needed to be patient and that we needed to remain calm and we did that.”
