Next weekend's Dr McKenna Cup final against Tyrone will give Armagh "a good measure" of where there are ahead of the league, according to Kieran McGeeney.

‘Geezer’ isn’t getting carried away following their wins over Monaghan and Donegal but, speaking to BBC Sport in Healy Park today, he highlighted the importance of quality games against quality opposition as part of their preparations for their Allianz FL Division 2 campaign.

“We know both Monaghan and Donegal won’t be at their strongest. We’re probably putting out stronger teams but for us it’s just a matter of trying to get some game time into a lot of legs.”

He added: “We wouldn’t be taking out any bunting or anything but it’s good for us to getting more game time.”

Holders Tyrone stand between the Orchard County and a first Dr McKenna Cup success since 1994.

“Everyone knows how serious they (Tyrone) take it. It will give us a good measure of where we are going into the Kildare game. It’s good to have more games.”
