Former minor sensation Kyle Coney attended Tyrone trials recently with a view to reviving his inter-county career.

The Ardboe clubman was considered one of the brightest prospects in Gaelic football after starring for the Red Hands in their 2008 All-Ireland MFC success, but after flirting with an Aussie Rules career with the Sydney Swans, he was blighted by injury, meaning he never fulfilled his potential at senior level.

However, Coney's impressive club form in recent months could see him return to the Tyrone fold in 2019, four years since he last featured for the county.

The Irish News reports that Darren McCurry and Shay McGuigan also attended the trials. McCurry opted off the panel last March due to work commitments, while Coney's Ardboe club-mate McGuigan also has plenty of inter-county experience.
