Killeeshil and Eskra will have to do it all again this Saturday evening again in Eskra to decide who meets Beragh in the Play off Finals after a very entertaining game on Sunday past. The home side lost midfielder Martin Mc Ginley to a black card after three minutes and although they led 0-2 to 0-1 after eight minutes they failed to score again until four minutes before the break. In the interim Killeeshil took over and hit 1-4 as the visitors opened up a six point lead. Points from Pascal Donaghy, Ruairi O’Neill and Ciaran O’Neill as well as a fine goal from the boot of Cormac Donaghy put Killeeshil in a strong position entering the closing five minutes of the first half. With half time approaching Eskra landed two points courtesy of Conor O’Hagan and the Emmetts went in at the break with a spring in their step.

The second half saw a much improved Eskra team take to the field. Their work rate increased considerably and after Johnny Hackett converted a penalty and Aaron Kelly lofted over a fine point, Eskra moved ahead. However with three minutes left on the clock a Bernard O’Neill 45 tied the game on 1-7 apiece. Both sides had further chances late in the game. A free from the boot of Joe Mc Carroll put Eskra in front again but Pascal Donaghy was coolness personified as he tied the match with virtually the last kick of the game on a score of 1-8 apiece. Please head up to Eskra and cheer on the lads, the game is planned for a 4pm throw in but times may change.    The U16 lads suffered heartbreak in the Championship today losing out to a last minute goal after extra time. Played in difficult conditions in the Rock, a feast of football was served up with the Rock edging the game on a final scoreline of 3-20 to 2-20. The lads started the game very strongly and with the help of a great Cahir Quinn goal and some fine Michael Gormley scores led by 3 at the break. Strong 1st half performances from defenders Eoin Neill and Ryan Nugent as well as midfielder Conall Fox helped secure the lead at half time. The 2nd half was nip and tuck the whole way.  A 2nd Cahir Quinn goal and some great Cahil Rafferty scores helped maintain a slender lead. The Rock kicked a couple of late frees to bring the game to extra time on a full time scoreline of 2-16 to 2-16. Extra time was more of the same with the Rock edging the contest thanks to a fortunate goal with a couple of minutes left. The lads never gave up and had an effort cleared off the line with the last attack of the game. All the men involved can be very proud of their efforts. They were extremely unfortunate not to come away with a victory. They have shown tremendous commitment and ability all year. Thanks to the team and the management for all their hard work all year.                                                        U16 Girls defeated Aodh Ruadh last Thursday evening and play Errigal Ciaran in an away fixture this Tuesday 16th in their final league game of the year.                                                  Please keep up to date with all things GAA on Killeeshil GFC’s Facebook page.
