Tyrone boss Mickey Harte will be hoping to discover some “fresh talent” this weekend as the county's senior football championship gets set to resume.

Coalisland face Edendork on Saturday while 2016 champions St Mary’s Kilyclogher cross swords with Ardboe on Sunday at the semi-final stage and Harte will be on the look-out as he looks to bolster his squad for 2019.

Yesterday marked a month since the Red Hands’ All-Ireland SFC final defeat to Dublin and their supremo is no doubt keen to go one step further next season.

“The Tyrone championship is always hugely competitive, as is evidenced by the fact that a number of different teams have won the trophy spanning recent years,” Harte told the Belfast Telegraph.

“Obviously the intensity of championship football can provide a barometer of how players can cope with pressure and the door is always open to fresh talent.

He added: “The opportunity is there for players to progress and to better their careers and it’s great to see the manner in which some of them have availed of this. Hopefully others will want to follow in their footsteps.”
