Tyrone forward Richie Donnelly is set to be sidelined for the rest of the year and will miss his club’s county SFC campaign.

Donnelly missed out on starting in the All-Ireland SFC final defeat to Dublin, despite having featured in all of Tyrone’s previous games, but he did manage to come on late on in the game.

However, it now has been revealed that the Trillick clubman suffered a torn meniscus cartilage and lateral damage the week before Tyrone’s crunch Super 8 clash with Donegal back on August 5 and recently had surgery to repair the damage.

Having managed to play some part in the rest of Tyrone’s remaining games, it was hoped that the injury was not as bad as initially feared, but surgery was needed and he is now on the road to recovery.

The 26-year-old will miss his club’s county SFC campaign which starts with a clash against Donaghmore at Healy Park tonight (Friday) and will be sidelined for the remainder of the championship.
