Former Mayo minor footballer Gary Boylan has committed his immediate future to Sligo Rovers.

The Belmullet native continues to play for his GAA club during the off season, but the 21-year-old revealed to the Western People that he was delighted to sign a new contract with the 'Bit O Red'.

"I'm delighted to sign back," said Boylan. "The past couple of years have not been what we wanted but there is ambition next season to do bigger and better things. We want to challenge in the top half and further up.

For the past three years, Boylan has been making great strides with Rovers, but he still impresses when he returns to the GAA field for Belmullet and it is a case of what might have been.
