Kenny and Cunningham inflict misery on their native Galway

The irony of Mattie Kenny and Anthony Cunningham making it such a miserable weekend for Galway GAA won't be lost on anyone out West.

Less than 24 hours after the Galway hurlers' season was prematurely ended by Kenny's Dublin charges, Cunningham also successfully plotted his native county's downfall when guiding his adopted Roscommon to a comeback win in this afternoon's Connacht football final.

It's only seven years since Cunningham and Kenny teamed up to bring Galway to the brink of an All-Ireland SHC success against Kilkenny. But a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then and Galway supporters will be asking themselves why two of the top managers in either code have been lost to the county.
