Local radio in Mayo won't be the same without Angelina Nugent who is leaving her role as sports editor of Midwest Radio to take up a new PR post with the Mayo-Roscommon Hospice.

Many tributes have been paid to the Glenisland native whose outstanding coverage of the local sports scene, and GAA in particular, made her the voice of Midwest Radio sport.

The popular broadcaster fronted Midwest Radio's live coverages of all of Mayo's Allianz League and championship games over many years, endearing herself to local listeners in the process.
