McEntee expects big turnout for Sean Cox fundraiser

Andy McEntee expects next month's charity match for Sean Cox between Dublin and Meath to attract a bumper crowd to Pairc Tailteann.

Proceeds from the game on December 16 will help with Sean's medical costs after he suffered serious injuries in an attack outside Anfield prior to Liverpool's Champions League semi-final against Roma last April.

The organisers of the game hope to raise over €100,000 for the former St Peter's, Dunboyne chairman who is currently in the National Rehabilitation Centre, Dun Laoghaire and will more than likely require care for the rest of his life.

"I think there's over 1,000 tickets sold already, without even launching it," Meath manager and fellow St Peter's clubman McEntee told gaa.ie at the launch of the fundraising match last night.

"I would expect it to sell-out. I always look forward to playing Dublin at any stage. If it was a game of marbles, playing Dublin still has its attraction. And I know from talking to the lads they're looking forward to the thoughts of playing Dublin."
