Leitrim lifted the Lory Meagher Cup at Croke Park today after a dramatic extra-time final victory over Lancashire.

The Connacht county prevailed on a scoreline of 2-23 to 2-22.

The Exiles looked a good bet to go one step further than last when holding a three point lead entering stoppage time at the end of the regulation 70 minutes but centre-back James Glancy came to Leitrim’s rescue with a goal and they made the most of their reprieve in extra-time.

Colm Moreton and Lancashire’s Ronan Crowley – who registered 1-9 overall - traded goals during a first-half which finished with the eventual winners 1-10 to 1-7 to the good.

Lancashire enjoyed the better of the second-half exchanges and hit seven unanswered points to move into pole position but they were left to rue the concession of that late Glancy goal.

Normal time finished with the scoreboard reading Leitrim 2-16, Lancashire 1-19 and the momentum was very much with Leitrim.

Top scorer Gavin O’Hagan – who finished with 0-9 (two from play) to his name - sent over a brace of frees while Moreton and substitute Zak Moradi also found the target.

Patrick Duggan pulled a goal back for Lancashire but Leitrim finished with one point to spare.
