Laois manager Eddie Brennan believes their win over Offaly will count for nothing if they can’t get a victory against Carlow this weekend.

Brennan has described the clash against Carlow as ‘critical’ as they bid to avoid a relegation play-off in NHL 1B.

Last weekend’s win over Offaly was their first of the campaign, but a win over Carlow would surely see them avoid the play-off.

“That’s a critical one,” Brennan told the Leinster Express. “Look, I’ve said from the word go I’d like to get into the league quarterfinals, I’d love to.

“But they (Carlow) stand in our way at the moment for another two points. They are flying at the moment. They got a point against Galway which was probably seen as a really important one.

“There’s a huge prize on offer next weekend between Laois and Carlow. It’s a prize that’s two points and we just have to get our heads around that.”
