LIT senior hurlers have a new management team in place following Davy Fitzgerald's resignation as boss two weeks ago.

Fitzgerald, who spent 16 years in charge of the Limerick college and guided them to Fitzgibbon Cup titles in 2007 and 2015, will be succeeded in the manager's role by current Clare senior hurling selector Jimmy Browne.

Browne, who is LIT’s Vice President for Corporate Services and Capital Development, will be assisted by Tipperary hurler and two-time All-Star Shane McGrath.

John Fitzgerald (Na Piarsaigh), Mikey Kiely (Ballybrown), John Carey (Clare) and Donnacha McNamara (Monaleen) complete the new LIT management team.

LIT will be strong contenders for Fitzgibbon Cup honours next season with players of the calibre of Limerick All-Ireland winners Diarmaid Byrnes, David Dempsey and Peter Casey, as well as Clare pair David Reidy and Jason McCarthy.
