Kyle Hayes was named the RTÉ Man of the Match for the All-Ireland hurling final last night.
His Limerick team-mate and captain Declan Hannon along with Galway's Joe Canning were also shortlisted for the coveted award. However, the Limerick centre forward got the nod after scoring four points from play and curbing the influence of Galway's number six, Gearoid McInerney, and was presented with his award at the Treaty County's victory banquet in CityWest Hotel.
The Man of the Match was chosen by Sunday Game panellists Cyril Farrell, Eddie Brennan, Anthony Daly, Brendan Cummins, Donal O'Grady, Ken McGrath and Jackie Tyrrell.
