Former Cork hurling skipper Stephen McDonnell could be set to make his return for the Rebels next season.

McDonnell, who captained the Leesiders to Munster glory in July of last year, decided to sit out this season but the Irish Examiner reports today that sources close to the team suggest that he's set for a return to the set-up in 2019.

The Glen Rovers defender's return would be a welcome boost to John Meyler's team, whom retained their provincial crown this summer before exiting the All-Ireland championship to Limerick (after extra time) at the semi-final stage.
