Wexford manager Davy Fitzgerald admits a repeat of last Saturday's performance against Westmeath won't be good enough to beat his native Clare in the All-Ireland SHC quarter-final.

The Model County came away from Mullingar with a 2-21 to 0-16 victory, but a tally of 14 wides will be a cause for concern ahead of the meeting with the beaten Munster finalists.

"I thought we were very comfortable to tell you the truth. We missed two or three open goals and could have won it by more. In fairness to Westmeath they kept trying, kept fighting away," Fitzgerald told RTÉ.

"Would I be happy with our display? No. We won't win an All-Ireland quarter-final playing like that. We know that.

"There was no excuse for us playing the way we did. That wasn't a good Wexford performance. We won't live with Clare playing like that. That's the truth."
