Sky Sports have come in for fierce criticism from hurling fans after missing the first 20 minutes of this evening's thrilling Leinster SHC encounter between Kilkenny and Wexford in Nowlan Park.

The pay-per-view TV station was due to show the game on its Sky Sports Main Event platform at 7pm, but with the All-Ireland football qualifier between Tyrone and Meath, which was being shown on both Sky Sports Arena and Sky Sports Main Event, going to extra-time, viewers missed most of the first half.

"We'll be showing the action from Nowlan Park very shortly where Wexford lead Kilkenny by three points to two," presenter Rachel Wyse assured viewers, who questioned why the hurling couldn't have been shown on one of Sky's other sports channels.

Wexford dominated the first half before Kilkenny stormed back after the restart to win by a point and qualify for the Leinster SHC final against Galway.
