Munster U20FC: Banner men blow Waterford away

February 20, 2020

Clare are into the semi-finals of the Munster U20 football championship

Clare 3-14
Waterford 0-6

Clare had minimal fuss tonight as they scored a 17-point win over Waterford in Miltown-Malbay to move into the Munster U20FC semi-finals.

Shane Meehan hit the net twice for the hosts as they cruised to victory in this one, producing the goods in the second-half with the wind at their backs.

Meehan’s first major came on 24 minutes and helped the Banner men to take in a 1-5 to 0-4 at the break.

Three quick points kept the victors’ humming early in the restart before Meehan raised the umpire’s green flag again in the 36th minute.

The struggling Deise men simply never got going in this one and it suited their opponents to run away with, goaling again late on to seal their semi-final date with holders Cork next Wednesday night in Miltown-Malbay.
