The list of former GAA players representing the Irish rugby team continues to grow after former St Brigid's and Roscommon starlet Jack Carty was named among the replacements for Sunday's Six Nations clash with Italy in Rome.

The 26-year-old Kiltoom native is expected to win his first cap after a string of impressive displays for Connacht at fly-half.

Carty played on the Roscommon minor team that lost to Kerry in the 2009 All-Ireland quarter-final at Croke Park before deciding to pursue a professional rugby career.
