Performance disgusts O'Neill

Kildare manager Cian O’Neill didn’t mince his words when describing how they felt following their defeat to Fermanagh last weekend.

In a dour game, that saw Fermanagh as expected, line out ultra defensively, the Erne County ground out a two-point win.

O’Neill was furious afterwards stating to the Leinster Leader that they knew how Fermanagh would line out, yet they didn’t combat that.

“To be honest, we are absolutely disgusted the way we performed against a team we knew what way they were going to set up, and to give them credit, they stuck to their guns for the entire game,” admitted O’Neill.

“They restricted our attacking play and we simply didn’t think our way through the game as well as we did against Cork and as well as we did against Armagh.

“That being said neither of those teams were as defensive as what we met against Fermanagh, we are disappointed with ourselves and the way we played; we had the chances and we had the opportunities but we just failed to execute.”
