Longford 1-7

Wicklow 1-6

Robbie Smyth's late point ensured Padraic Davis' first game in charge of Longford ended with a win over Wicklow at Newtownforbes.

The Abbeylara sharpshooter's late strike decided a low-scoring contest played under the new experimental rules in wet and windy conditions at the home of Clonguish GAA.

Wicklow were dealt a double blow before the throw-in when Oisin Manning and David Devereux, who both recently transferred from clubs in Dublin, were unable to start as their transfers don't come into effect until January 1. They were rocked by an early goal from Barry McKeon, but replied with a goal of their own from Gearoid Murphy to lead by 1-3 to 1-2 at the break.

Daniel Mimnagh drew the home side level early in the second half and it was tit for tat after that before Smyth won it for Longford.
