It is essential that Kevin Walsh remains at the helm if Galway's footballers are to continue on their upward curve, according to long-serving player Gary O'Donnell.
Walsh was non-committal on his future in the aftermath of Saturday's semi-final defeat to Dublin.
Speaking to the Irish Independent, O'Donnell - who came on as a second-half sub against the Dubs - stressed: "I think it's very important that he does stay on, he has four years done and look at any of the top managers - Eamonn Fitzmaurice in Kerry had five or six, Jim Gavin in Dublin has six years.
"Kevin has built us and got us to where we are at the moment, so I think it's important that he stays on and keeps things going in the right direction."
