It was a case of mission accomplished for Donegal manager Declan Bonner as his side eased to a first Ulster SFC title success in four years at Fermanagh's expense.
"Over six and seven months ago, we laid out this as the target. We wanted to win Ulster. Some of these boys had lost Ulster finals," he told RTÉ.
"With the younger lads coming through, we knew if we could blend everything together, we'd get there. And the boys really put in a huge shift. We got the start and that early goal (scored by Eoghan Ban Gallagher) was really important to us. We're absolutely delighted and we're going to celebrate this tonight."
The 1992 All-Ireland winning corner forward added: "Fermanagh have a lot of good players, they work extremely hard and they play to a system. But I'm just absolutely delighted for the lads. Michael Murphy, Paddy McBrearty, Frank McGlynn, Paddy McGrath lost two of the last three finals plus the younger lads coming in, I'm just delighted for everyone.
"Twenty years ago, I stood here a beaten manager after a late Joe Brolly goal in an Ulster final. Huge disappointment. It took 20 years to come back.
"But this is not about me. It's great satisfaction to see these younger lads move on and win their Anglo-Celt."
