Gearoid Adams believes the return of Connaire Harrison from suspension can get Down's attack motoring again.

The marauding Mourne County targetman was hit with a two-game ban following his side's Round Two defeat to Cork but is available for selection again for Saturday's rearranged trip to Breffni Park to face Ulster rivals Cavan:

"After his two-game ban, Connaire has had plenty of time to get his mind right for the games ahead," selector Adams tells The Irish News. "Connaire is a top class forward and he's going to get close attention all year.

"Down needs Connaire performing. He was obviously missed against Clare. There is a high quality of inside forwards in Down and Connaire is the pick of them given his form of last season. We hope that he can bring our scoring ratio up to where it should be.

"There are so many stats in the game these days, it's become so scientific but we hit every box - defensively against Clare last time out. We kept Clare to seven attacks in the second half; the difference was Clare had 80 per cent success with their shots, whereas we dropped well below 40 per cent.

"At Division Two level you need to take your scores. We had wave after wave of attack against them. My neck was only looking the one way the whole of the second half but, unfortunately, we missed a few easy enough chances and a couple in the first half as well."
