Philip Austin has returned to training with the Tipperary senior footballers.

The former Tipp captain has been an absentee from the Premier County's 2018 campaign to date after undergoing hip surgery, but looks set to feature before the end of the league as Tipperary fight for promotion to the top tier.

However, manager Liam Kearns has revealed that this weekend's Round Five clash with Louth will probably come too soon for the Borrisokane clubman:

"Philip is back training but it's unlikely he'll see game-time until the latter stages of the league at the earliest," the Kerryman told The Irish Sun.

Shane O'Connell (hand) has also been ruled out for the Wee County's visit to Thurles on Sunday, while Jack Kennedy (hamstring) is doubtful.
