Longford manager Denis Connerton is seeking a strong finish to the NFL Division Three campaign.

The Midlanders are finely poised on six points in third place in the table with three games remaining after they won their last game against Wexford.

Now is the time to push on according to Connerton who told the Longford Leader that the win over the Model County is invaluable to their confidence.

"At least we started the remainder of our league campaign with two points because that's really important for us," stated Connerton.

"The points are so valuable and it should secure our position in Division Three next year. From the outset I have been saying it was so important to get a few wins and work on from there.

"Our next game is against Sligo and they are going to be battling for their lives now because they are on two points and will want to get out of relegation trouble."
