December 03, 2014

Three quarter-final places up for grabs.

Six games in the fifth round of the Munster GAA Post Primary Schools Dr. Harty Cup will take place today with three quarter-final places up for grabs.

Thurles CBS have completed their four games and top Group 1 with 7 points. The fight for the second Quarter-Final place begins today when West Limerick Colleges play Blackwater CS in Charleville. A victory for the West Limerick Colleges will see them move ahead of Ardscoil Ris on 5 points. Ardscoil Ris play winless St. Flannans on Monday next at 1:30pm in Sixmilebridge knowing a draw or victory will see them qualify for the knockout stages.

The best of Hollywood scriptwriters could not have come up with the final round scenarios in Group 2 with four teams level on four points, everyone with two wins and a loss thus far. It's a case of winner takes all in the two games on the agenda in Round 5 as SNTN Doon play Gaelcolaiste Mhuire AG in Mallow while St Colmans Fermoy take on Castletroy College. Wins in either game will see the victors qualifying for the Quarter-Finals while a draw would bring score difference in to play. Two cracking Limerick versus Cork hurling clashes are in story in this group today.

P.S Youghal have qualified for the knockout stages with six points from their three games in Group 3. In the one game on the agenda today, winless Charleville CBS play St Caimins Shannon in Clarina with both teams out of contention. The other game in this group will see St. Francis College Rochestown playing Our Ladys Templemore on Friday next at 1:30pm in Cahir. Rochestown have also qualified for the knockout stages as group winners and will look to remain unbeaten and bring this momentum to the Quarter-Finals by continuing their good form against Templemore.

Group 4 is also delicately poised as Nenagh CBS and Midleton CBS face each other today in Clonmel knowing that the winner will qualify for the Quarter-Finals as both schools sit on four points each. Hamilton High School Bandon have qualified for the Quarter-Finals with three wins from three thus far and take on Dungarvan CBS in Killeagh looking to remain undefeated heading in to the Quarter-Finals.
