MoyneTempletuohy appeal fails

November 13, 2014

Moyne Templetuohy have failed in their bid to represent Tipperary in the Munster intermediate club hurling championship.

The club had argued that they were entitled to represent the Premier County on the provincial stage as Tipperary IHC winners but their case was dismissed by the Disputes Resolution Authority on Sunday last.

The Tipperary representatives were due to play their Munster opener on the same day that the county IHC final was fixed for and, for obvious reasons, could not do so. Ironically, as they were playing Thurles Sarsfields' second team in the county final, Moyne Templetuohy would have went on to represent the county whether they won the IHC final or not.

They were even prepared to play the county final on the Saturday but Tipperary County Board insisted that it be played as curtain-raiser to the SHC final.

After an unsuccessful appeal to Munster Council through Tipperary County Board, the club took their case to the DRA but were declined after a two-hour hearing in Thurles on Sunday.
