Tipperary SHC: Loughmore-Castleiney and Mullinahone progress

There were quarter-final victories for Loughmore-Castleiney and Mullinahone in the Tipperary SHC today.

An attendance of 2,027 turned up at Semple Stadium to watch a double bill featuring holders Loughmore-Castleiney versus Clonoulty Rossmore and Mullinahone versus Kildangan.

Timmy Hammersley and John O'Neill netted first-half goals for Clonoulty Rossmore as they led the reigning champions by 2-5 to 0-10 at the halfway stage.

But Loughmore-Castleiney upped the ante after the resumption and finished up as narrow 0-17 to 2-10 winners.

Goalkeeper Shane Nolan came to their rescue with a fine double save in stoppage time.

The throw-in was delayed after the first quarter-final clash between Mullinahone and Kildangan went to extra-time.

Mullinahone edged a thriller by the narrowest of margins - 3-17 to 3-16.

County star Eoin Kelly was in top scoring form for the winners with 2-7.
