As part of the Tipperary Ladies Football 40th Anniversary celebrations the 1974 & 1975 Tipperary All Ireland winning teams will be celebrated in the Horse & Jockey Hotel on Saturday October 18th.  Tipperary played a pivotal role in the birth of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association.  On July 18th, 1974 a meeting was held in Hayes Hotel with a number of counties from around Ireland present and the association was formed.  Clonmel man, Jim Kennedy was elected the first President of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association.
The first Championship in 1974 had eight counties in it, Roscommon, Laois, Galway, Kerry, Cork, Waterford, Offaly and Tipperary.  Tipperary claimed the first ever title when they defeated Offaly on a score line of 2-3 to 2-2.  Agnes O'Gorman, losing captain presented the winning captain, Kitty Ryan with the Brendan Martin Cup.  Jim Kennedy also, had the pleasure of managing the first All Ireland winning team.  Biddy Ryan, current treasurer of Tipperary Ladies Football was Secretary of Tipperary Ladies Football in 1974 and was instrumental in organising a lot of the people to achieve their success both on and off the field.
The 2013 All Ireland Runner up team will also, be presented with their medals on the night.
