A new format for next year's Munster SFC was agreed upon by the province's CCC last night.

With this year's finalists Kerry and Cork receiving a bye into the semi-finals, the remaining four counties - Limerick, Clare, Tipperary and Waterford - will comprise the quarter-finals, the pairings for which will be decided by an open draw.

The semi-final pairings will also be decided by open draw.

The new format means the controversial seeded system - which meant that Kerry and Cork couldn't meet until the final - will no longer apply. Indeed, there is every chance that the two heavyweights could be drawn against each other in next year's semi-final.

Munster's four so-called weaker football counties, who boycotted the McGrath Cup and didn't make their players available for Railway Cup selection in protest at the seeded format this year, are much happier with the new structure.

The draws for the 2015 Munster SFC will take place on Thursday, October 9.
