Referee Derek O'Mahoney will travel home to Tipperary this evening with the boos of Cavan's supporters ringing in his ears.

The match official was escorted off the O'Moore Park pitch as a number of players, officials and supporters from the Ulster champions vented their anger towards him following their narrow 0-10 to 0-11 defeat by Dublin in today's All-Ireland U-21 FC semi-final.

The CCCC are sure to launch an investigation into the ugly scenes which accompanied O'Mahoney's final whistle.

Cavan's complaints centred around the debatable free that was awarded to Dublin substitute Gavin Ivory which Cormac Costello converted to claims the spoils for the Leinster champions.

It's likely they were also unhappy at O'Mahoney's decision to show Dublin forward Conor McHugh a yellow rather than a black card in the 53rd minute. Moments later, McHugh kicked over the equalising score.
