St Thomas’ manager Kevin Lally has insisted that they have not discussed last year’s All-Ireland club SHC final as the focus on Sunday’s club semi-final.

The Galway champions take on Tipperary’s Borris-Ileigh at the Gaelic Grounds in a battle for a place in the final where they will face either defending champions Ballyhale Shamrocks or Derry’s Slaughtneil.

In last year’s final, St Thomas were hammered by the Kilkenny kingpins but they are just two steps away from rectifying that horrible experience.

However, speaking to the Connacht Tribune, Lally insisted that they are focused on the future and not looking into the past.

“We are just taking these games on their own merits. The next game is an All-Ireland club semi-final and it is there to be won,” said Lally.

He added: “Winning breeds confidence and you can see our group is a good confident group. We were lucky enough towards the back end of the year that we ended up tidying up a couple of injuries, with Eanna (Burke) and Fintan (Burke) coming good.”
