May 19, 2019

Tipperary's Jack Leamy and Rory Furlong of Waterford

Tipperary have drawn first blood at Semple Stadium today with their minors edging out Waterford by three points.

The scoreboard read Tipperary 3-15, Waterford 2-15 at the end of this round 2 clash.

Jack Leamy was the main scorer-in-chief for the Premier County – who lost out to Cork in the opening round - and he finished with 1-8 to his name.

1-6 of his tally came in the first-half and the hosts enjoyed a 1-9 to 1-6 advantage at the break.

Waterford – who were defeated by Clare on the opening day - were forced to play the second-half with 14 men following the dismissal of Rory Furlong for a second yellow card offence in first-half stoppage time.

Johnny Burke netted their goal in the opening period while Caolan MacCraith added a second after the break.

Tipperary hung on for the win, however, thanks to second-half goals from Conor McKelvey and Stephen Ferncombe.
