Semple Stadium will host Waterford's Allianz Hurling League opener against Offaly on Sunday, 27 January.

The Deise were forced to forfeit home advantage for their Division 1B first round clash with the Faithful County as punishment after breaching training regulations.

The GAA designated last April as a “club only” month to tighten rules on inter-county activity between the end of the Allianz League and start of the All-Ireland championships.

However, Waterford were found to have breached the GAA's rule 6.22 which states: "Senior inter-county panels shall not be permitted to go on training week-ends, or training of longer duration, after the final of their respective National League having been played, except during the 10 days period prior to a senior championship Game, or during the 17 days prior to an All-Ireland senior final."

Wexford's hurlers were also found guilty of breaching the training ban rule and were due to lose home advantage for their league opener with Limerick, but the Model County will now host the All-Ireland champions at Innovate Wexford Park after the CHC decided that their trip to Portugal was just a team holiday.

Semple Stadium staged Waterford's home Munster SHC tie versus Cork last summer with Walsh Park unavailable due to its restricted capacity.
