Clare's Jamie Malone has had his appeal against a two-match ban rejected and will miss the Banner County's upcoming games against Down and Roscommon.

Malone was red-carded after colliding with Tipperary selector Shane Stapleton in the 46th minute of the two sides' Allianz League Division 2 clash in Ennis last Sunday week.

Stapleton was taken to hospital and kept overnight after falling on concrete near the dug-out.

Clare brought their appeal to Croke Park last night with Clare FM reporting that it had been unsuccessful.

Banner boss Clare Collins did not contest his four-week sideline ban while no decision was made on the proposed three-month ban for defender Gordon Kelly for an alleged incident with an umpire in the same game.
