Our senior men's footballers produced an encouraging display on Saturday evening at Oxfield to draw with the league holders Tourlestrane in Division 1 on a final scoreline of 0-15 to 2-9. An injury-time point earned the visitors a share of the spoils. The seniors travel to Gurteen this Sunday afternoon to play Eastern Harps at 2pm.
Our junior men's footballers emerged from their 'winter hibernation' to make a winning start to their Division 4 campaign last Sunday when they beat St Farnan's by 4-13 to 2-4 at Oxfield.
Hard luck to Eoghan Smith and the Sligo U17 footballers who lost their opening match to Galway in this year's Connacht minor championship. Eoghan scored 0-7 of Sligo's tally of 0-10 last Friday. The minor championship is being played on a round-robin basis this year. Sligo's next game is against Mayo.
Our boys U14 footballers were beaten by Shamrock Gaels in Riverstown on Saturday morning in the league by 7-7 to 5-5.
Our girls U16 footballers play Tourlestrane in Tourlestrane this Monday evening in the league. A win will ensure a league final place for the team.
There is a midweek blitz for our U8 and U10 nursery footballers this Wednesday May 16th when we host St Mary's in Oxfield at 7pm. Players are asked to assemble by 6:45pm. Don't forget your drinks bottle and gumshield.
There were mixed fortunes for our U12 and U16 hurlers last week. On Monday, the U16s travelled to Tourlestrane and had a comprehensive win The following evening (Tuesday), the U12s travelled to Ransboro and, despite being ahead at half-time, were narrowly beaten by a point. Benbulben Gaels U14 hurlers play Tourlestrane in the league this Thursday evening at Oxfield. Throw-in: 7pm.
