Wondering where things are going within county set up.....its well into February....no sign of a new sponsor.....we live in tough times so its not too suprising we haven't a new main sponsor but surely a number of smaller sponsorship deals could be worked on to try and replace Cliffords.....on the field we are not too far off the mark....wasn't in Antrim but heard we were quite competitive.

Agree with post on other thread that there seems to be a lot of apathy in Sligo G.A.A. at mo,When I originally posted this thread part of it was omitted.......you can read betweenn the lines that it was the main thrust of the thread.

I agree too but in fairness since the great Sligonian left this it was a sad day for both his fans and the people that disagreed with him. We need a poster like him back to ruffle a few feathers.

And also what in the name of god is happening with our sponsor? Its getting late now.

I might be an outsider on the Sligo board but Sligonian was great craic. Sure knew how to ruffle feathers but made some good points too. Come back Sligonian have the craic and a laugh...!!

priorities in sligo gaa should be to find a proper full back.
also to blood young defenders and not just forwards.
in recent years only conor davey was brought onto senior panel in defence whereas david kelly niall murphy steven kilcoyne david maye and pat hughes all brought in as forwards.
it is not because the defenders arent good enough it is ignorance on selectors behlaf

just in relation to giving defenders a chance, im working in dublin the past few years and seen in the local press that Luke Bree is playing centre back for st vincents (all ireland champions 2008) and playing well, also heard from a work mate that he was excellent playing with DCU in the O'Byrne cup final against Kildare a few weeks back and also in earlier rounds against Wicklow and Longford

Very disapointed very poor in midfield and again the half forwards been allowed to run at the sligo halfbacks very hard to win against this and it makes our defender look bad

sligo are in freefall at the minute and will be relegated.the win against wexford should have gave the push to fight for promotion but instead the team crumbled.
this in my opinion is down to a lack of creativity.
pat hughes and james clarke are big strong men but lack creativity.david maye would be a much better option in my opinion.also the backline is not in good shape this year.with mcmanus aside the rest have been poor so far with the exception of wexford where they were decent.
ross and charlie have aken many steps back and our ongoing searchfor a fullback continues.
no doubt johnny davey is a top player but him and mcgovern are constantly beaten when taken on.
we need a player to play with mullen.
thebottom line isthat at intercounty level you can win nothing without a decent midfield and win nothing we have.!.

We are in poor shape. The way we're going we could be lucky to get past the Big Apple. Like I said before we need new blood and we need it soon. Huge problems at midfield and I'm not sure we have players to rectify it. Surely we have a young vibrant midfielder within the county to accompany Mullen. Also would have young Johnny Kelly from Grange in as he's the most natural corner back in the county. What about Maye as well surely worth his place at center forward. We have no full back. I dont know really but something has to be done FAST imo..

Were in a real battle to stay up in Div 3 with just Offaly and Ros to play. We need at the very least to win one of these two games to stay up, and not be counting on
the teams below us to keep us up. If we loose to Offaly were heading for relegation cause i cant see us beating Roscommon the way the league has gone so far.

If we lose to offaly we are in big trouble as we will both have two wins and they have rhe head to head advantage plus they have tipp in their last game. We need to win on sunday and push on for the championship

What is ths story with David Kelly? Is he available to play? Hope it isn't a case of only appearing for the championship.
