Went to that meeting. Seems we are not as badly off as we feared. Hard for us simple folk to cut through the accountancy jargon about assets, depreciation, creditors, debitors etc. As far as I can read it we need €100,000 per year for next 15 years to pay off our €1.5 million loan. Thats as well as the day to day running costs of Sligo GAA. bit like our gov they have a plan to increase income and cut costs. Hope we have hit the bottom now and that we will start to rise up from now on. Long hard road ahead but with everyone pulling together we can do it. Thought it was a good meeting with lots of good robust debate.

Any update from last nights meeting. Rumour has it in the 7 figures area. Strangely it is only a year since the Ard -Stiruthóir(?) Duffy said there was no issue. I was there that night( not going this year, farcical as eoinog pointed out) and it was obvious there was something hidden in the background. This seems to be it now. But why..?

Thanks Tommy for the update. My post was being written obviously when yours was going up.

However 100000 a year will probably have to come from the clubs on top of what is paid now. That is approx 5000. Add the 3000 last year and are clubs expected to put in approx 8000 a year - not possible for the majority of clubs, and especially for clubs developing or going to develop their own facilities.

Not as bad as you thought....€100k a year on top of yearly running expenses...what planet are you on...Sligo could never feasibly manage to come up with those funds...Tommy Murphy are you a CB official by any chance???

We are in a total mess. I have no confidence in the current administration. We need a massive injection of cash at the moment just to keep us afloat.

No I am not a county board officer nor do I attend co board meetings. Merely a club worker first and Sligo supporter second. I have no time for this in fighting that goes on. We seem to have that sorted now so we will all have to do our bit now to turn things around.

Like you Tommy I am a clubman first and Sligo man second however I disagree there is huge split at co board level, between the previous administration and the current holders - - and they are all making a big problem worse by their constant sniping and upmanship. I go to co board meetings for my club 4-6 times a year and it is a disaster (as it was also before the current executive) each for different reasons
