Drumcliffe/Rosses club notes

January 16, 2017

The club expresses sympathy to the Duggan family in Rahaberna following the death of Paddy Duggan last week. Paddy had a long association with the GAA, and played senior football for Sligo at the age of just 16. He also won senior club championships with his beloved Sooey in the 40s and 50s. His sons Padraig, Peader & Barry also played football locally in their younger years

Our condolences also to club patron Kieran McDermott, following the death of his niece Eithne O'Gorman (Rosses Point) recently.

On the field of play, hard luck to our intermediate ladies footballers Rachel Monaghan, Michelle McNamara, Sinéad Regan and Amanda Healy who were part of the Sligo county team which lost out narrowly to Galway in last Sunday's Connacht Winter League final at Bekan, Ballyhaunis.

Well done to our senior club captain Neil Ewing who led the county's men footballers to a facile win over GMIT in the Connacht FBD League last Sunday.

Our annual juvenile GAA celebration will take place on Friday, February 3rd in Rathcormac Hall starting at 7:30pm. All our underage footballers and hurlers (and their families) are invited to attend as we acknowledge their playing contribution over the past year. There'll be refreshments for all attending players.

Date for your diary: The club's Saturday morning GAA nursery coaching will begin on March 4th. Club registration for 2017 will take place in February. More details in the coming weeks.

The club's monthly meeting for January takes place on Monday 30th in Oxfield at 9pm.
